Speakers
Dr. Kathleen Lagana, RN, PCNS, PhD is the owner of Lagana Healthcare Consulting, where she provides continuing education and consultation on perinatal/neonatal nursing standards of care. She clinically supervises BSN student in maternal/Infant nursing. Her special interests are healthcare access, complications of pregnancy and intrapartum, patient safety and perinatal ethics,
Darla Maier, RNC-OB, MN has been in the field of perinatal nursing for 19 years practicing as a labor and delivery nurse. As an educator, she is a skilled nursing staff developer and has served as a childbirth educator and clinical faculty in community/maternal-child nursing at the Baccalaureate level. Her special interests areglobal healthcare needs and the empowerment of women.
Dr. Bobby Ghaheri, MD did his undergraduate training in Spanish and Anthropology at The Ohio State University, and remained there for medical school. In 2002, he and his wife relocated to Portland, where he did his residency training in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University. In 2007, he joined The Oregon Clinic, the largest multispecialty clinic in Oregon. His clinical interest is helping babies with breastfeeding difficulties.
Jennifer Atkisson RNC-OB, MSN, IBCLC is a perinatal/neonatal nurse who has practiced as a staff nurse, charge nurse, unit educator, Clinical Nurse Leader and nurse consultant. Her special interests are fetal/neonatal safety and culturally competent care for vulnerable populations.
Judie Hesse, RNC-OB, BSN, LNC, C-EFM is a labor and delivery nurse, legal nurse consultant, and AWHONN EFM instructor. She has special interests in obstetrical emergencies, fetal/neonatal safety, and the empowerment of nurses to advocate for the safe and effective health care.
Dr. Barbara O’Malley Floyd, RN, CNM, DNP is Professor of Nursing at Concordia University, with more than 40 years of experience in maternal-child health, nursemidwifery, public health, and nursing education. She currently teaches obstetric & pediatric nursing and nursing leadership. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Portland in 2011, and volunteers her nursing, midwifery and education skills in Haiti working to educate Haitian midwives.
